Sustainability is not a catchphrase for us, but a corporate culture that has been lived since our foundation. And holistically. With the certification as a "climate-neutral company", we have just reached another milestone on the way to even greater environmental compatibility.

To this end, we examined our entire value chain and prepared a carbon footprint for the 2018 financial year. The data collected strictly in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol has been thoroughly checked and confirmed by TÜV Rheinland.

So we knew how much CO2 was to be offset and since then we have been donating the respective amount of funding each year to certified climate projects by "Climate Partner".

How did we proceed?

A carbon footprint was drawn up for the 2018 financial year, with which the CO2 emissions (corporate carbon footprint) are recorded in the prescribed survey areas Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 (in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol). The prerequisite for this are sustainable, documented objectives that we achieve through the IMS and ISO 9001: 2015, ISO 14001: 2015, ISO 50001: 2018, BS OHSAS 18001: 2007, ZNU Sustainable Management: 2018.

This balance must be verified by an independent third party. The Laverana balance sheet was checked by TÜV Rheinland. We received an official confirmation that we can make the determined CO2 sum climate-neutral through a suitable project.

To make our company climate neutral, we acquire emission reduction certificates from approved, certified projects and offset the CO2 emissions with the funding amount. Thus our company became a climate neutral company.

This is how we support climate projects

Climate protection projects that help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions are also always development projects. These projects help the local people and are based on the official 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

We offset the CO2 emissions of our company by promoting the ClimatePartner forest protection project in Peru. This ensures that the unique forest in Tombopata is preserved. Without the project, the forest would have disappeared in about 15 years - and with it not only the unique flora and fauna, but also the livelihoods and livelihoods of the around 400 families who live in the 300,000 hectare rainforest in the Amazon region. In addition to the preservation of the forest and the careful use of the forest's natural resources, the project aims to provide the residents with a secure income. For example, by setting up small businesses and producing soaps and oil and growing sustainable Brazil nuts.
