Dull hair

The fibre trunk of the hair, also known as the “cortex”, consists mainly of keratin and makes up 80% of the hair. It is enclosed by a so-called cuticle, which consists of fine, horny cells layered like roof tiles.

By straining our hair, e.g. B. by colouring, incorrect brushing and washing or by certain environmental influences, the outer cuticle is roughened. This means that incident light is no longer reflected and the hair appears dull and dull. Another undesirable side effect is that the hair is no longer so easy to comb and style.

Features: This is what dull hair looks like

Imagine the structure at the tip of your hair like that of a pine cone. This outer layer offers the inside of the hair mechanical and chemical protection against external influences such as combing, UV radiation and the use of hair clips.

This means that the incident light is no longer reflected and your hair appears dull.

How to help dull hair shine

Frequent bleaching and colouring leaves the hair dry and straw-like. If you still want to dye your hair, then the best thing to do is to pay a visit to the hairdressing salon you trust. Here you can also have your tips trimmed regularly to give the hair a new look.

Rinse, rinse, rinse! Always rinse your hair thoroughly after shampooing. As a rule of thumb, the hair should be rinsed five times as long as it is lathered. As a test, you can take a wet strand of hair between your fingertips and run it down. If the hair squeaks, then it is thoroughly washed out.

Use conditioner regularly to seal in the cuticle of your hair. The lavera natural cosmetics conditioners are not only the perfect companion to the shampoos, but also the perfect companion for dull hair.

If your hair is dull, you should rinse it again with cold water after washing it. This closes the upper cuticle and the hair shines.

Limescale residues from tap water put a strain on your hair and deposit on the hair structure. To remove limescale from your hair, you can add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar or lemon juice to one litre of cool water and use it to rinse your hair after shampooing.

Pay attention to a vitamin-rich, balanced diet. It is best to enjoy fruit and vegetables five times a day, as well as nuts, whole grain products and high-quality oils.
