FAQ - Frequently asked questions

Do you have a question about our products? Lavera Naturkosmetik has provided you with the most frequently asked questions and corresponding answers in various categories.

+ What are the most important parts of a skincare routine?

Skincare is an individual process as we all have different skin types and skin requirements. We advise to not put on your body what you would not put in your body. You are truly absorbing the things that you put on your skin, which is the first barrier of entry into your body and your bloodstream, so make sure that the things you are putting on your skin are things you want in your system. This is why lavera products are 100% natural and we only use the best natural and organic ingredients for your body. As a rule of thumb, we say the best skincare routine is to cleanse, tone and moisturise. Cleansing the skin removes daily build up on the skin, dirt and excess sebum; toning prepares the skin for moisturising; and moisturising gives the skin a boost of moisture to keep it from becoming dry and reducing chances of any skin problems arising as well as keeping the skin smooth, healthy and protected. Additional products such as exfoliants, serums and masks can also be incorporated into your skincare routine.

+ How can I avoid wrinkles?

Wrinkles are a natural result of ageing, but you can delay their onset or minimize their appearance. To do so, limit sun exposure, wear sunscreen every day, and use skin products that contain antioxidants, which can help to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

+ What ingredients are best to help my wrinkles?

Natural plant extracts and oils that are high in antioxidants are great in helping to reduce the signs of ageing, such as Ginkgo Biloba, Green Tea, Hyaluronic Acid, Pomegranate, Vitamin E and Vitamin C. These are naturally moisturising ingredients which penetrate into the skin and retains the skin moisture levels, boosts firmness and helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Vitamin E is also known to help strengthen and protect the skin and reduce the formation of free radicals from sun exposure. Coenzyme Q10 is a powerful antioxidant that stimulates cell production, encourages the skin to regenerate and helps to protect the skin from free radicals and wrinkles forming

+ What causes dark circles under the eyes?

Dark circles can be a result of visible blood vessels just below the thin skin under the eyes or shadowing from sunken areas around the eyes caused by the breakdown of collagen and elastin as we age.

+ What’s the best way to handle sensitive skin?

Be gentle with it! Always wash sensitive skin gently, and never use harsh cleansers. Avoid products that contain irritating substances. Instead, seek out those that are specifically labelled for sensitive skin. The lavera neutral range is ideal for sensitive skin.

+ Do you need different products for the morning and evening skincare routine?

Yes, it is best to have different products for your AM and PM routine. While it may be super convenient to use the exact same skincare products for both your morning and night-time routine, your skin needs are different in the morning to the night. During the daytime your skin is exposed to endless varieties of contaminants, including dirt, make up, pollutants and bacteria. During the day, your skin’s role is to protect, while at night your skin needs to repair itself and a good night-time routine is to focus on deep cleansing and nourishment. Take a look at the lavera Day and Night products in the skincare section.

The best way to keep the skin, hair and nails in the best condition possible is to have a well-balanced diet, plenty of green leafy vegetables and fruits along with portions of protein and healthy fats and grains.

+ What are the tell-tale signs that my skin is ageing?

As our skin ages it loses collagen, elasticity and firmness which results in thinner skin, fine lines and wrinkles appear around the eye and lip areas, age spots and pigmentation are more noticeable on the skins surface, skin starts to sag and the complexion can become much drier (due to ageing skin being unable to retain moisture) and look dull.

+ What's the best way to care for dry skin in the winter?

+ How do I use the lavera sun protection products correctly?

Shake the sun protection product very well before use! Apply sunscreen generously before going out in the sun and repeatedly during this time, especially if you sweat or after being in the water. Small application quantities reduce the protective performance. Even sunscreens with a high sun protection factor do not offer complete protection against UV rays. The UV protection cannot be increased by multiple applications. Avoid direct contact with textiles (stains possible). Excessive sunbathing poses a serious health risk! Avoid eye contact.

+ What is the difference between mineral and synthetic light protection?

The mineral light protection filter is developed by lavera itself. The recipes are regularly optimized and adapted to the latest research. The lavera sun protection products are based on titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. The principle is simple and taken from nature. Just like an elephant pelts its skin with sand - i.e. minerals - to protect it from UV rays, the sun protection factors lie on the skin and reflect the sun's rays. Synthetic sun protection & sun filters: They contain synthetic factors such as oxybenzone, octinoxate, phenylbezimidazoles. These combine with the skin fat and dissipate the heat energy through the skin.

+ Why do the lavera sun protection products whiten?

The mineral sun protection factors of the lavera sun protection products lie on your skin and reflect the sun's rays like a mirror to the light. The human eye cannot perceive the minerals (white pigments) on the skin as individual parts. Therefore, the skin appears a little whiter and more matt (the so-called "whitening effect").
