Make-Up Removal

After a long day of work (or even a late night out on the town) most of us are looking forward to nothing more than going home and putting our feet up. But, one task may be holding us back: removing our make-up. It is well documented that making a habit of not removing make-up can wreck havoc on skin.

Make-up removal needs

Which products and how often you should cleanse your face depends not only on your skin type, but also on the products you wear on your face during the day. Not only should you gently remove your make-up every night before going to bed, you should also remove your sunscreen. Even if you don’t wear SPF or make-up, you should cleanse your face in the evening to prepare it for the subsequent care products.

Double cleansing

A lot comes into play on our skin during the day: you should thoroughly remove SPF, make-up, sweat and dirt in the evening. The concept of double cleansing is particularly suitable for this. As the name suggests, you should clean your face in two steps.

Panda Eyes?

The first step is to gently loosen make-up particles and dirt on your skin with either an oil or a cleansing milk, e.g. the Basis Sensitiv Cleansing Milk. To do this, simply pour the milk onto dry skin and massage in gently.

Afterwards, you can simply remove all make-up residue(panda eyes!) from your face with a make-up removal pad. A micellar water or eye make-up remover is suitable for this. The effective cleansing formula of the Hydro Refresh Micellar Water removes make-up and refreshes the skin.

Make-up removal tip

Use reusable make-up removal pads instead of traditional cotton pads. Instead of throwing them away after one use, simply pop them in a wash bag and wash them as often as required. This is definitely the more sustainable alternative.

Double cleanse with natural products

For intensive cleansing, you should now do the second part of the double cleansing and switch to a cleansing gel. To do this, apply a gentle cleansing gel to damp skin and massage in gently in circular motions. Rinse the gel off with lukewarm water. Remember to cleanse your neck and décolleté too!

The lavera Basis Sensitive Cleansing Foam is an ideal cleanser for those with sensitive skin. If you struggle with impure skin, the Pure Beauty 3 in 1 Wash, Scrub, Mask with organic mint and natural salicylic acid is particularly suitable for thoroughly cleansing.

Clear thing

By removing make-up every day and cleansing in the morning, you regularly prepare your skin for subsequent care. If you still have time for another step, it is recommended to use a facial toner. The last step is particularly suitable for for oily and impure skin, as it removes all remaining dirt from the skin. To do this, simply put some of the Basis Sensitiv Gentle Facial Toner onto a cotton pad or make-up remover pad and gently rub it over your face. Your skin is then ready for the right care!

Pro tip

If you are looking to intensively cleanse your skin, consider using a face mask once a week. lavera’s Pure Beauty 3in1 Wash, Scrub, Mask is suitable for this.
