Tips for an effective Hand Care routine

Our hands are our main tools and do so much for us. We may not realise but we use our hands for everything and are vitally important part of who we are and how we see ourselves, so we need to take care of them. We all know that washing your hands for 20 seconds is a must. What we have all noticed in the meantime is the soap, hand gel, hand sanitisers and disinfectants dry out our hands. That is why the right care is now essential for beautifully cared for hands. Find out how you can naturally look after your hands even if you wash them frequently.

You’re in good hands with lavera.

Because it is important to give your hands some TLC. Due to the large amounts of hand washing, sanitising, and disinfecting our hands can become sore, stressed, and dry therefor we must take care of them, keeping them hydrated, moisturised and cared for by applying hand cream all the more often.

When applying hand cream, it should be massaged in well and distributed so that all the stressed and dry areas of the skin on the hands get some of the cream. Below, we show you an easy-to-follow step by step guide on how to take care of your hands.

Now let’s apply hand cream in three easy steps.

1.  Choose your chosen lavera hand cream. Spread the hand cream in circular movements on the back of the hand against the other back of the hand. I know right, this feels weird, but it is great for moisturising the entire surface of your hands!

2. Then gently massage your fingers as if you were putting on a glove, making sure you work the cream into the cuticles and nails too.

3. Finally, take care of the palms and massage the cream into the palms of the hands and moving up to the wrists and forearms.

It is important to give your hands the right care they need in your hand care routine.  Moisturising creams for the face and body should stay on the shelf. Hand creams are developed for the special needs of the stressed skin of the hands and contain the appropriate ingredients to optimally care for your hands. Cocoa or shea butter, for example, are a great care booster for dry hands, but evening primrose or aloe vera are also not to be despised in hand care.

Pro tip: Exfoliating for softer hands.

If your hands remain rough despite intensive care efforts, a DIY exfoliating routine can help remove rough skin and dead skin cells. We love this DIY at home recipe:

Mix half a cup of sugar, one teaspoon of olive oil, and two teaspoons of coarse sea salt in a bowl. Rub into the hands to gently exfoliate. Then simply wash off with water, the olive oil leaves a light film on the hands, which also cares for the hands.

Night shift with gloves - a beauty tip

If your hands are still not satisfied with the cream and exfoliating routine, you can also try a small spa treatment at home. Wash your hands thoroughly before bed and dry them carefully. Then rub your hands generously with a hand cream and put on special spa gloves made of cotton. Alternatively, you can put on clean cotton socks. Leave the cream to nourish your hands over night for beautiful soft, smooth hands when you wake.
