Properly care for extremely dry and sensitive facial skin

Anyone who suffers from very dry, sensitive skin or neurodermatitis must be particularly careful with the selection of products and beauty routines in their care program. You can find out what the characteristics of sensitive or extremely dry skin are and how you can optimally care for your facial skin here in our lavera world of advice.

These are the characteristics of very dry, sensitive skin

The classic characteristics are a feeling of tension on the skin, a rough-feeling skin surface, cracks and visibly flaky skin. Itching, inflammation of the skin, blistering or open and flaky skin can indicate an allergic reaction. In this case, you should consult a dermatologist.

Once you start scratching yourself, the skin irritation increases; Germs and bacteria do the rest. The skin flakes, has open spots and any eczema takes a long time to subside.

There are several factors that contribute to extremely dry skin or allergic reactions on the face: Classic suspects are, for example, food intolerances, house dust mites and their excretions or animal hair and the associated violent reactions of the immune system. If you are allergic to these or other factors, you should also seek medical advice. In the next few paragraphs, we will introduce you to some tips and products in order not to irritate particularly sensitive and neurodermatitis or very dry skin during daily cleaning and care and to reduce the risk of irritation.

The following applies to this type of skin: Less is more! Above all, it is important to protect the skin from drying out and to support the natural regeneration of the skin's protective barrier. A damaged barrier means that allergens can penetrate the skin and trigger reactions. The skin that is out of balance can hardly tolerate classic care products and reacts particularly strongly to certain emulsifiers, perfume oils, dyes or conventional preservation systems. Therefore, you should completely avoid irritant substances in skin care. Skin care products with few but effective ingredients that support the skin's lipid barrier and thus strengthen the protective function of the skin are a step in the right direction.

A facial fluid or a care cream should be applied before going to bed so that the care products can take effect overnight. When you apply the care products, you can also stimulate blood circulation in the face with a gentle facial massage.

In order to meet the special care needs of dry and sensitive skin, we have developed a special skin care series for daily care and cleaning. The lavera natural cosmetics neutral care series is deliberately made without additional artificial fragrances and preservatives (preservatives in the sense of the EU Cosmetics Ordinance). The products with high-quality ingredients such as organic evening primrose care for, protect and soothe the skin.

This is how you clean very dry, sensitive facial skin

If the protective skin barrier is disturbed or damaged, the skin should not be cleaned too often or too intensively. The protective layer that has formed on your skin overnight should not be removed immediately in the morning. We therefore recommend that you use mild cleaning products primarily in the evening. So you can wash everyday life off your face and protect your skin. Micellar water or a gentle cleansing emulsion without fragrances offer a particularly mild form of facial cleansing.

After cleaning, gently pat your face dry with a clean towel. Avoid rubbing, excessive pressure and pulling when drying your face, as this can further irritate your skin and damage the skin's natural protective barrier. When your face is dabbed dry, you can apply a nourishing cream or fluid to your face and massage it in gently.

1. Dab the cream on your forehead, cheeks and chin  and then start working the cream outwards. Massage the cream in with stroking movements from the centre of the chin to the ears along the jawline.

2. Now it's time to turn your cheeks:  Again, gently stroke your nose towards your cheekbones, then spread a little of the cream over your nose and repeat the process from your nose until the cream is incorporated.

3. The forehead also needs to be pampered!  Stroke the centre of the forehead up to the hairline and along the sides to the cheekbones. You can adjust the order according to your problem areas.
